Fans Treated To A Chhetri Brace as India outclass Bangladesh

Under Pressure Blue Tigers ended their 11 Match Winless Streak, as they defeated Bangladesh 2-0 in Doha on Monday.

Indian Gaffer Igor Stimac fielded a Strong Starting Line Up including Indian Captain and Star Striker Sunil Chhetri who was rested for an entire half against Qatar in their last outing.

Indian Team were on song for the major part of the 90 mins as they held a 74% possession in the game, firing 16(5) shots towards the Bangladeshi Shot Stopper.

Bangladesh were resilient In their defense too but after a flurry of misses in both halves, the deadlock was finally broken by none other than the Indian Captain Sunil Chhetri who headed the ball in the far post from a brilliantly executed cross by Bengaluru Teammate Ashique Kurunian in the 79th minute. As he went on to extend India's lead from a pass by another BFC teammate Suresh Wangjam in the injury time(90+02)

The Indian Team performed brilliantly controlling the ball in the midfield as Goa players Brandon and Glen Martins were in the Top of their game. Brendon could have had a Hat Trick of Assists in the first half if Indian players had not scraped the chances in the first half.


 

Sunil Chhetri ended his 4 matches Goalless streak for India as he scored a brace and added to his tally of 72 Goals in Indian Colors. The win came as a Sigh of Relief for the fans and the Indian coach as well since India last last won an International Match against Thailand in the King's Cup in June 2019.

India are currently in the 3rd place in their group with 6 points from 7 Matches as Afghanistan dropped to 4th position with 5 Points, and have a good chance of Qualifying for the AFC Cup 2023.

All eyes will be on the India vs Afghanistan Match on 15th June as both sides will lock horns for the 3rd Position Battle. A win or Draw will be sufficient enough for India to clinch the 3rd Position..
